Groupon CEO Andrew Mason Doesn’t Comment on Google Rumors, Mentions Dynamic Pricing
Groupon CEO Andrew Mason took to yet another stage today at the Mobile Loco conference in San Francisco. The embattled face of the daily-deals giant wasn’t very garrulous. Fast Company’s E.B. Boyd asked Mason about the rumors that Google is considering another attempt at acquiring Groupon. “We never have and never will comment on any of the unsubstantiated rumors in the press,” Mason said. “There’s nothing I can say about that.” In response to a question about the board’s discussion of Mason’s leadership, Groupon’s CEO said he has nothing else to say about the subject and that he’s “focused on looking forward.” What Mason did talk about was what he sees five years from now. He noted that he expects it to be easier for people to discover interesting things on Groupon, and that dynamic pricing (one of the 10 important trends for the industry in 2013) will become more prominent. Mason also said the company doesn’t get as many complaints about personalization in its international markets. (CNET News, Forbes)
