Grey Global Group has promoted Nick Hoadley to lead the promotions business in the Chicago office of its marketing services division, G2 Worldwide.
Hoadley becomes managing director of G2 Promotional Marketing, a new post. His mandate is to build up the Chicago office as G2’s headquarters for shopper marketing.
G2 has been shoring up its shopper-marketing expertise since late 2006, when it hired Jonathan Dodd as global director of strategy and retail communications to oversee the agency’s retail work.
This is Grey’s second shot at building a retail marketing division. The company ran co-marketing shop J. Brown Agency for several years, handling retail promotions for a range of packaged goods brands, most notably Procter & Gamble. Grey folded J. Brown into G2 last July, when it consolidated all its marketing services businesses, including Grey Direct and Grey Interactive, under the G2 umbrella.
Hoadley has been running G2’s retail marketing work in Europe, Middle East and Asia, working out of G2’s London office. He has been with the agency since July 2005; before that, he was managing director of the Triangle Group, a U.K. promotions agency.
Jason Press, president of G2 Promotional Marketing, oversees the division’s offices in Stamford, CT, Chicago, Dallas and Cincinnati. Vince Weiner, G2 Promotional Marketing’s director of client and practice development, left in May.
