Forget Apple’s iPhone 5 – Nokia’s Windows Phone Will Change Mobile Search

Posted on

Nokia Windows 8Apple’s iPhone 5 is hogging the limelight, but from a mobile search perspective it’s actually quite tame. Sure, Siri is a factor that needs to be given attention, but that was the case when it debuted with the iPhone 4S. Marketers should be shifting their collective gaze toward Nokia’s new Windows-based smartphones, which are running Windows Phone 8. Microsoft is using these phones as vehicles for Bing, not just as a search widget but as the primary source of information for the owners of the phone. For example, Bing Local Deals will be fed by Scoupon, a partner; and a search box will be displayed on the lock screen. These phones will likely send more mobile search traffic to Bing, which can hold its own against Google when it comes to the quality of search results. (Search Engine Land)
