Facebook Without Ads: Just a Dream or Feasible Reality?

FacebookThe thinking goes something like this: If Facebook is going to make more money, it has to show more ads. This isn’t necessarily true. The social network’s off-site ad network and Gifts product are two tools it can use to grow its revenues. This would mean that Facebook would be relying on its data instead of its traffic to make more money. “That would leave its site and apps uncluttered, designed to maximize enjoyment, the amount we share, and our feeling of connection instead of page views.” Choosing this path would enable Facebook to return to its emphasis on user experience while boosting its revenues in a way that’s more open and social.
