Electronic Arts is out with an online contest that gets gamers singing for a chance to record a tune on a future The Sims 2 video game, the latest in The Sims franchise.
Fans can record their own version of Smile by artist Lily Allen, featured in The Sims 2 Seasons video game at Singshot.com/SimsLily. Singshot is EA’s online music community.
But there’s a catch. Participants must sing in “Simlish,” like Allen does in the characters’ language. They can also get feedback on their songs from visitors and rate and comment on other submissions on the site.
The contest runs through April 10.
Allen will choose from the top three ranked songs. One top winner gets the chance to record a song in Simlish for possible inclusion in a future video game, tickets to a Lily Allen concert and copies of The Sims 2 video games. The second-prize winner gets an iKaraoke machine and video games.
EA handles the contest in-house. Online materials support it.
