Hundreds of gamers at dozens of EB Games’ stores are about to play one another in a tournament that showcases the launch of a new game and gives the winner a Dodge Charger.
The interactive video game tournament, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat Challenge, starts Nov. 19 when 64 EB Games stores will be divided into “clans,” and 12 gamers at each store will play in the online match on Xbox Live against contestants from other stores. Players register at Ebgames.com/challenge, which features a link to the Dodge Charger site.
The contestant in each store with the highest score receives a $100 EB Games gift card and a copy of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat from Electronic Arts. Each store winner plays against the other store winners for two rounds, with the three highest scorers getting a $500 EB Games gift card. The three finalists compete for the 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8.
“Dodge has successfully used gaming to promote its brand and nameplates for several years,” said Fred Diaz, a spokesperson for Dodge, in a statement. “We are looking forward to continuing that success with the new Battlefield 2 game and promotion.”
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, the latest in the Battlefield franchise, drops players into the heat of battle with plenty of firepower, high-powered vehicles and expansive environments.
