The Direct Marketing Association has reorganized, DIRECT Newsline has learned.
The New York-based DMA has created three new departments and named a new head of an old one, said DMA spokesperson Christina Duffney. These changes are effective immediately.
In another move, Frank Rigano, who had been executive vice president of operations and administration has resigned, effective Aug. 23. He will not be replaced and those employees who worked for him will now report to others.
The first new department, marketing, will promote conferences, counsels, membership and information products. This unit, which had been part of the conferences department, is now its own stand-alone division. Lesa Semaya has been promoted from director of marketing to vice president of marketing to lead this department.
The segment services department has also been formed. Segments are vertical business areas, such as catalogs, telemarketing and business-to-business, Duffney said. Segments are less networking-oriented than councils. The department will create white papers and benchmarks. Michael Faulkner has been moved from the counsels department to head up this new department, and his new title is senior vice president of segments and affiliates.
The third new department is strategic information, which will produce new information products and services. The leader of this department has yet to be announced.
Anne Schaeffer will take over the leadership of the councils department from Faulkner. Schaeffer has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president of professional development of training and councils.
