CRYONICS: A PRIZE TO DIE FOR

“New Scientist” magazine, London, is backing its redesign with a death-defying offer: The grand-prize winner chooses between cryonic preservation — and a trip to Hawaii. Dubbed “The Weirdest Competition in the World,” the game asks readers to collect coupons from three issues and answer three questions about the magazine (a fourth question asks which prize they prefer, and why). The “Live Later” prize is to be frozen at the Cryonics Institute in Michigan upon death; the “Live Now” prize is a week trip for two to Hawaii, including a visit to the world’s highest observatory in Mauna Kea.
