One local soccer team will score a chance to win a private coaching session with a U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team member Landon Donovan under a new sweepstakes from Claritin-maker Schering-Plough Corp.
Coaches and parents of school or other locally organized league soccer teams can enter the Kick It Clear With Claritin soccer clinic sweepstakes by visiting Claritin.com . Entries must be made by Aug. 15.
The top prize includes a private soccer clinic for more than 20 kids, ages four to 18, hosted by Donovan. The session will include a question and answer segment and photo-opps with the soccer star. Each participant will receive a soccer ball and the coach or parent who entered the team will receive a package of Claritin RediTabs allergy pills.
During the promotion, the Claritin.com Web site will offer information for soccer fans and allergy sufferers, including tips for playing soccer and dealing with allergies year round.
Apart from partnering with Donovan, the Kenilworth, NJ-based company is also contributing $50,000 to the American Youth Soccer Organization¹s National Support & Training Center to help develop and refurbish soccer playing fields across the country.
“More than 80 percent of the 19 million Americans that compete in organized soccer nationwide are under 18, including the vast majority of the 650,000 AYSO players,” said Dr. Richard Smith, AYSO’s national executive director, in a statement. “Every team needs a great place to play, and this contribution to AYSO will enable kids to play and enjoy soccer on refurbished fields.”
Schering-Plough received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval in 2002 for the over-the-counter sale of the Claritin brand.
