Cigna Runs Essay Contest for Road Race Entry

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Cigna is conducting an essay contest to energize interest in its August road race in Falmouth, MA.

People are asked to write about personal stories of overcoming a disability or illness and state why they want to compete in the race. The winner and a guest will receive an expenses-paid trip to the 2008 Cigna Falmouth Road Race on Aug. 10.

Entries will be accepted starting Jan. 1 through Feb. 29. Details are available at http://www.cigna.com. The winner will be announced on April 30.

“These athletes remind us all that we are only limited by what we are willing to do,” said Karen Rohan, president of the Cigna Group, in a statement. Rohan has run the race herself for the past ten years.

This year, 25,000 people applied for the 10,000 spots to compete in the seven-mile race on Cape Cod.

Cigna sponsors its own running team at the event. It sets up a Cigna table to disseminate healthy lifestyle information and giveaways during the Saturday registration period prior to the race, and also has a CIGNA hospitality tent near the race’s finish line.
