Big name brands, including Sony Electronics, Geek Squad, Nintendo and Audiovox, are targeting college campuses as part of a 24-city tour to showcase the latest in technology and gadgets.
The 2005 TechKnowOverLoad Tour, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, gives colleges students a chance to sample the latest consumer electronics products and tools. The tour, which launched Monday, will hit top colleges including Kent State University, University of Rhode Island, Temple University, Purdue University and Florida State University in addition to a college fest in Boston.
Returning sponsors include Nintendo, Gibson Guitar and Audivox. New Sponsors include Logitech, RCA, LightScribe, NVIDIA, Sony Electronics and Geek Squad. The tour, which is in its fifth year, runs through Nov. 3. A tour schedule is available online at TKOtour.com.
“College students are tuned in to the consumer electronics industry,” said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro in a statement. “The TKO tour is a continued success because it benefits industry and consumers alike. Participating consumer electronics companies are able to showcase their products directly before the digital generation’s college consumers and those students in turn are able to interact with the latest products designed to enhance their busy lives.”
As part of the tour, students can enter to the Ultimate Dorm Room contest for a chance to win up $10,000 of consumer electronics products from TKO tour sponsors.
