Retailer Build-A-Bear Workshop is on the hunt for a few good heroes—children who demonstrate extraordinary service to their local communities.
Through Feb.14, Build-A-Bear Workshop is conducting a search for incredible kids from the U.S. and Canada to be named 2006 Huggable Heroes. Nominations will be accepted for children 18 and younger in Build-A-Bear Workshop stores or online at HuggableHeroes.Buildabear.com
Nominees will be narrowed down to 100 semifinalists, and then to 25 finalists, of which the public will cast their votes for their favorite Huggable Heroes online at Buildabear.com. Twelve children will receive a $2,500 donation to further their cause and win a trip to Los Angeles, CA where they will be recognized for their achievements. Each hero will be featured in the 2007 Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes calendar.
The finalist with the most votes will be named the People’s Pick Huggable Hero.
Build-A-Bear Workshop—the retailer made famous for its interactive make your-own-stuffed animal retail entertainment experience—established the program in 2004 to recognize children who are making a difference in their communities.
Last year, consumers selected Jena Sims as the People’s Pick Huggable Hero, who described her passion for raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Sims created the Prince and the Princess of Hope beauty pageant for children with cancer. She serves as a teen spokesperson for the American Cancer Society and has raised more than $47,000 for her cause.
