Britney, WWE, Paris Top 2007 Yahoo Searches

Posted on

Yahoo! has released its top ten search terms for 2007, and Britney Spears has retained her throne at the top of the list. Her public downfall, which included a shaved head, an umbrella, and various outings without any underwear among other memorable moments, has not dimmed the fascination that users seem to have with her.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) retained its number two spot, followed by Paris Hilton, who crawled up two spots from last year’s rankings. Hilton was boosted by her short stay in jail.

Popular Japanese manga series Naruto was fourth, followed by Beyonce, Lindsay Lohan, Rune Scape, Fantasy Football, Fergie, and Jessica Alba, in that order.

Yahoo! also unveiled its “Yahoo! 2007 Top Trends in Search,” which displays various lists that were compiled after search queries are analyzed “based on a number of factors, including absolute volume and growth versus previous periods, to see which themes and trends bubble to the surface.”

Meanwhile, Google’s top 10 fastest growing search terms in the U.S. for 2007 were: iPhone, Webkinz, TMZ, Transformers, YouTube, Club Penguin, MySpace, Heroes, Facebook, and Anna Nicole Smith.
