Threadless? Yeah, We Heard of Them

So the biggest surprise I heard today: The majority of the attendees at the Internet Retailer Web Design and Usability show have not heard of the online retailer Threadless.

Speaking during a session called “Designing your web site to create social marketing success,” Fry director of creative strategy Bridget Fahrland asked for a show of hands – who in the room had heard of Threadless. Only a few hands went up.

Those hands must have belonged to subscribers of Chief Marketer, and read Brian Quinton’s profile of Threadless.

Threadless is an i-merchant that has pretty much raised the bar when it comes to combining e-commerce and social media. They rely on their community of followers to help create and then market the products.

We (Chief Marketer, even though I am primarily with Multichannel Merchant) know Threadless through Cam Balzer, the company’s vice president-marketing, who used to have that role with Performics.

Anyway, Fahrland said something positive about Threadless, but I’m going to have to check my audio recording again. Forgive me, I am sure I went into shock because of the lack of hands.
