The Following Mobile Sites Irked Me Tuesday
You get what you pay for: When I upgraded my smart phone back min November, I went with the free one. The E71x runs on the Symbian platform, and we’re living in an iPhone and BlackBerry world.
Funny that I was having problems with it on my trip to Chicago yesterday, and this morning during his keynote to open IRCE 2010, Imran Jooma, president of e-commerce for Sears Holdings, said merchants need to make their content available to people using all mobile platforms.
I had problems with two different sites that I tried to access for Chicago-related business.
First was Go Airport Express, and it wouldn’t have been a problem if I’d instead clicked Go Airport Shuttle when I did my search on Google Mobile. The issue: I needed a number to call to book my return service. The phone number could have been a click-to-connect to make life simpler. But worse, the number was “1-800-2-THEVAN.”
I don’t know about your smart phone, but mine doesn’t have the “ABC” above the 2, etc., so I had to pull out a pen and paper and draw a sketch of a keypad.
Second was StubHub. I was hoping to catch a White Sox game tonight, since all of Chicago will be at home or in bars watching the Blackhawks probably clinch the Stanley Cup tonight. But I needed Java, and it could not be uploaded to my phone because of the system.
I guess I can hope more mobile marketers take Jooma’s advice.
