Reward Your Seasonal Staffers
There is so much talk these days about holiday preparations and about hiring and retaining seasonal staffers. Some companies, like Fairytale Brownies, go the extra mile and offer incentives to make the holiday grind much more enjoyable.
Kim Silva, operations team leader at Fairytale Brownies, lists some of the incentives her company offers seasonal staffers:
Monthly $100 Visa Gift Card drawings: To be eligible to participate, an employee cannot be absent during the month of a drawing. It is a random drawing and names of eligible team members are pulled from a box. These gift cards are awarded during September, October and November.
December weekly drawings: For various prizes and gift cards during the December peak (ex: TV, GPS, airline tickets). These are also random drawings and to be eligible to participate, an employee cannot be absent during the week of a drawing.
Completion bonuses: We offer different levels of bonus for returning seasonal team members, and also first-time seasonal team members. These are paid out at the end of the season.
Great Brownie Giveaway: In addition to receiving an employee discount on products they wish to purchase, the comnpany gives away “quite a few brownies” at the end of the season to all team members. This usually happens during the annual end of season luncheon.
Silva says she finds the monthly/weekly drawings to be more successful than the bonus because most team members prefer being awarded something as the season progresses, and they always love getting brownies at the end!
So keep these tips in mind when thinking about incentives for your seasonal staffers this holiday season.
