Here’s What Happens When You Listen to Your Customers

Posted on by Tim Parry

Hearst runs four daily newspapers in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and its Websites recently went through a redesign to get on the same platform and to look a little more uniform.

Now we all know people hate change. And the readers of the Greenwich Time weren’t happy about their new homepage.

They wanted their clock back. The Greenwich Clock had been a part of the site’s banner – and identity – even before newspapers went digital.

So as you can tell from Keith Whammond’s post, the readers got their clock back. It’s in a slightly different location, and hopefully the angry readers who took the time to raise a stink will be happy.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an informational or e-commerce site, you need to listen to your audience. Sure, we can look at our analytics and see where our audience is migrating, and what pages or products seem to be important to them.

But you need to keep your eyes and ears open – as well as your inbox – to determine if your audience is happy with a redesign.

Good job, Hearst Connecticut.
