Engagement is not Marriage

wedding rings Maybe it’s just me feeling cranky on a Friday, but I am getting sick and tired of continually reading, hearing, seeing and being told that Social Media is so awesome because it does such a great job of creating engagement.

Let me ask this: What’s the MAIN reason you advertise and market?

To sell your products or services.

As a professional measurable marketer who owns a full service marketing agency, I know my clients hire my firm to get results, not create engagement. They want my work to produce, well, a marriage.

That’s what great direct marketing does. It goes beyond engagement and gets folks to the altar. It creates the sale, or helps you sell more and can be tracked back so you can continue to increase your ROMI through testing.

So, the real question is how to you get social media beyond engagement and to the church of commitment?

I can hear the clang of champagne glasses as you respond.
