Do Personalized School Supplies Make Kids More Vulnerable?

Interesting press release issued yesterday by MemorableGifts.com. It’s a warning that personalized school supplies can make your children a target for abduction.

The skeptic in me thought this was hogwash. Why would pencils with my son’s name on it make him a target? But then I realized I’m a very new dad – I wasn’t thinking about my son having a backpack with his name on it. A stranger could call my son’s name out, my son could think he’s not a stranger because the stranger knew his name, etc.

Oh, it’s also the reason they don’t offer personalized school supplies. It sounds to me like this press release is more than just an answer to possible customer complaints. It’s really a public service announcement:
