Circuit City is on Facebook

Posted on by Tim Parry

Nothing really alarming here (except a lot of people may not know that Circuit City was acquired and re-launched as a Web-only venture by Systemax).

The key here is that Circuit City has launched a page on Facebook, and are not censoring the voice of its fans.

In addition to showcasing sale items, Circuit City is using its Facebook presence to announce it is hiring. They’re getting the “Circuit City sucks” replies, as well as comments from people who have no idea Circuit City is back in business under new ownership… and people with other things to say:

To those of us who actually WORKED for CCity, and lost our jobs, seeing stuff like this makes me really hate the company… I loved my job and my crew… After canning 34000 people they now go to a internet only… >.

The important thing is they’re engaging conversation. And they are listening. After being slammed by more than a dozen fans on June 18, regarding a “we’re hiring” post, Circuit City’s Facebook moderator came up with this response:

Circuit City at 5:52pm June 18

We have been viewing everybody’s comments on our fan page and noticed a lot of you just want your jobs/stores back. Systemax, the new owner of Circuit City, has no affiliation with the past owners of Circuit City and is not responsible for what happened with the former owners or their decisions.

For now we are dedicated to the site, and we are just trying to help in the best way we can and hope everyone finds what they are looking for. Take care.

Right now there’s not a lot of love for Circuit City on its page, but maybe Systemax will win over the haters. Stay tuned…
