CB2 pulled off a clever email tie-in to Michael Scott’s final day as boss on
“The Office” last week, starting with the subject line “farewell to the world’s best boss. you always left us wanting more.”

(I should honestly say here when I clicked on the link in a half awake state I was confusing CB2 with C2E2, and thought this really was an email about “The Office,” perhaps plugging an actor’s appearance at an upcoming convention.)

But I wasn’t disappointed with what I found. The interior headline proclaimed “the office just won’t be the same but at least we still have dwight.” But they weren’t referring to Mr. Schrute. Instead, they were plugging the “dwight” line of furniture.

images.jpgAt least on first glance, I don’t see any real inspiration from the assistant to the branch manager. No obviously places to hide firearms, no Battlestar Galactica insignia, no beet storage bin. Still, it was a clever way to get folks with no immediate interest in new office furniture (like me) to give one of their lines a glance.

A little further down, the theme is carried on with the subhead “great scott! more ideas for the office.”

A glance through my email archives shows that most of CB2’s emails are pretty straightforward. Which is fine, I guess. But a little more cheekiness and pop culture savvy like this would definitely get them a promotion in my inbox. (That’s what she said.)
