2008 May Have Stunk, But It Can At Least Still Be Award-Winning

Republic of TeaLook, your sales figures are down, and I’m sure your company’s overall morale is down, too. You may have put out the best kick-ass site (or kick-app, if it’s an e-commerce specimen), and your catalog redesign may have been the best thing to ever hit your customer’s mailboxes.

So instead of looking at red figures and harping on the negative, who don’t you spend a minor investment that could turn into a major morale booster. Enter your e-commerce site and your catalog – or both – in the 2009 MCM Awards.

Yeah, I know what you’re going to say: “They are the Harry and David awards. They win every year. So does L.L. Bean, and you can’t win unless you spend their kind of money.”

And that couldn’t be further from the truth. Take a look at who won the Print Catalog of the Year in 2008: The Republic of Tea. Trust me, when they were announced as the upset winner during the awards luncheon, there was a sense of awe on the crowd. This little guy beat out the giants of the game to take home the trophy (and received perfect scores from the judges, may I add).

Couldn’t your hard-working employees benefit from a morale-booster like that? An “atta boy” and a pat on the back from the industry? And for something that even the stingiest CEO could afford? Of course they could.

And even if you don’t win, the entry cost is a heck of a lot cheaper than a consultant’s fee. And industry experts are going to give your site and/or catalog a look-see and feedback whether you win or not.
