American Express aims to make cardmembers’ experiences at the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament memorable with a full menu of perks when the Grand Slam event commences later this month.

For the first time, cardmembers will have access to free personal TVs at major court venues, so fans watching matches in Arthur Ashe Stadium or on National Tennis Court grounds can view matches on the outer courts. In addition, they can also receive a free radio to follow the action while listening to CBS or USA Network broadcasts.

Members who enrolled in American Express Membership Rewards program can use points to buy tickets. When they charge a cumulative $75 to their cards for U.S. Open merchandise, they can receive a commemorative pin of U.S. tennis stars James Blake and Venus Williams.

Blake and Williams are featured in a multimedia Amex campaign to build awareness of its U.S. Open sponsorship starting this week.

“By serving up the ultimate access to the U.S. Open, we not only deliver on our cardmembers’ passion for tennis, we bring together our cardmember community to enjoy the excitement of this event,” said Rich Lehrfeld, Amex vice president of global sponsorship and event marketing.

The company will also sponsor a Tennis Lovers’ Night with Match.com to an exclusive event for cardholders and Match.com members on Sept. 6 in New York City’s Madison Square Park, where American Express will screen the men’s quarterfinals and let tennis fans mingle.

In Madison Square Park on Aug. 31 and in Rockefeller Center commencing Sept. 1, American Express will sponsor live viewing on giant screens with mock stadium seating from 11 a.m. daily, through the tournament’s climax on Sept. 9. The viewing areas will also contain photo exhibits, tennis instruction and concessions

On Sept. 1 through Sept. 3, American Express will sponsor a family weekend in Madison Square Park with interactive activities for all ages.
