Amazon Joins Points.com Portal

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Points International signed a deal with Amazon.com that lets Points.com members swap airline miles for Amazon products.

Points.com is a reward management portal that lets members shop using points from loyalty programs to which they already belong. Consumers register for free, then track their activities in up to 45 different loyalty programs, including American Airlines AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, TripRewards, Priority Club Rewards and S&H greenpoints.

Members redeem miles and points for music downloads from MSN Music; travel (hotel and airline); magazines; or gift certificates from retailers including JCPenney, American Eagle Outfitters, Eddie Bauer and Starbucks.

The Amazon.com deal lets Points.com members redeem points and miles from other programs for Amazon gift certificates.

Amazon is the 14th retailer to offer gift certificates through Points.com.

“We’re pleased to provide customers another convenient option for buying on Amazon.com,” said Amazon.com Director of Business Development Toni Reid in a statement.

To promote the Amazon deal, Points.com is giving new registrants a bonus in the rewards program of their choice; all new registrants are automatically entered in a sweeps awarding 10 Amazon gift certificates ($200 each). The bonus and sweeps run through Nov. 30. Toronto-based Points International handles in-house.
