Granted, you may not have been waiting for this milestone. But Direct is now 20 years old. It debuted in October 1988 and started appearing monthly shortly thereafter. So this is as good a time as any to take a look at the past, present and future of direct marketing.

Richard Levey weighs in on database marketing, Ken Magill on e-mail, Brian Quinton on the Web and Larry Riggs on postal mail. Ray Schultz remembers 20 years of industry agita.
