Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

1-800-Flowers.Com trimmed its first-quarter net loss from $7.4 million a year ago to $5.8 million. During the year, the company’s first quarter revenue grew from $137.1 million to $145.8 million. The quarter ended Sept. 30.

E-commerce revenue made up $114.5 million of the quarter’s sales, up from $109.3 million a year ago, while sales from other sources amounted to $31.3 million, an increase from $27.9 million.

According to the company, its first quarter is traditionally its lowest, in terms of revenue, due to the lack of gift-giving holidays during the summer months.

During the quarter, the company attracted 506,000 new customers, of whom 372,000 came to it through online channels.

Upcoming plans for the floral, food and gift marketer include a partnership with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, under which the Martha Stewart organization will create exclusive floral, plant and gift baskets for 1-800-Flowers.com.
