Yum Brands is beefing up its marketing team in the face of flat sales.
Emil Brolick has been promoted to the new post of president of U.S. brand building. He had been president of the company’s Taco Bell division for six years. Brolick will work with other Taco Bell presidents to strengthen the brand.
Greg Creed, the Taco Bell CMO who spearheaded the Think Outside the Bun marketing campaign, replaces Brolick as president of Taco Bell.
Peter Hearl has been named chief operating and development officer, a newly combined role. He had been president of Pizza Hut U.S., also owned by Yum. Hearl will be responsible for improving system operations and opening new restaurants, the company said.
Hearl once led Yum Brands’ KFC and Pizza Hut businesses in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the Asia Pacific region, while establishing the company’s business in India.
Scott Bergren, the executive vice president, chief marketing and food innovation officer for Yum Brands, replaces Hearl as president of Pizza Hut Inc. Bergren was responsible for introducing KFC’s Chicken Capital USA advertising campaign and a number of new products including the 99-cent Snacker.
The new positions take effect Dec. 1.
Last month, Yum Brands reported that throught the third quarter, revenue for its U.S. restaurant operations of $12.89 billion, up just.02% from the same period last year. The company said it expected “blended same-store sales to be flat” and a profit of 3% to 5% for the year.
Louisville, KY-based Yum Brands owns more than 34,000 restaurants, which includes more than 2,000 licensed restaurants, in more than 100 countries and territories. Yum is the parent of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
