In the ultimate celebrity challenge, Xbox Live subscribers can win a chance to compete against some of today’s hottest stars.
Microsoft Corp. launched the Game With Fame program this week. The first gaming competition took place yesterday between Xbox gamers and hip-hop duo OutKast. One hundred registered Xbox Live subscribers will be selected to compete against OutKast’s Big Boi, who will play live from Los Angeles where the band will be preparing for its appearance at the Grammy Awards.
Game With Fame will continue throughout the year and will give players a chance to compete against music, film, television and sports personalities. Bands that have already signed on include The Strokes, Phantom Planet, The Crystal Method, Fefe Dobson, Kings of Leon, Korn, Hoobastank, A New Found Glory and Thrice.
Xbox Live, an online gaming experience via broadband connection launched 14 months ago, gives consumers the opportunity to play and talk with other gamers around the world any time, day or night. To date the service has a community of more than 750,000 gamers from more than 19 countries.
