World Golf League to Launch Outbound Telephone Campaign

Who said outbound telemarketing is dead? The World Golf League Inc. (WGL) is about to call over four million golfers to offer them the WGL Premier Membership Card. And it plans to double the size of the effort within a year.

Far from shying away from telemarketing, the Altamonte Springs, FL-based group is excited about “the strength of this channel,” said CEO Mike Pagnana in a statement.

Pagnana added that the WGL does “not anticipate any negative impact from the effects of the new FTC regulations.”

The group hopes to generate 8,000 members and cash flow of over $900,000 per month. This will add up to over $11 million per year with $6 million going to the bottom line, the WGL said.

The WGL’s normal revenue flow is seasonal.

The membership card entitles the member to discounts at over 2,500 golf courses, and a variety of other benefits and discounts.

The base monthly membership fee of $9.95 will be billed automatically to the member’s credit card.

In addition, the group is offering an enhanced membership package for $105. This allows members to compete in a one-day qualifier and possibly advance to the national golf finals.

Roughly 400,000 golfers have been contacted during an 18-month test program.

The campaign will be managed by Global Sports Marketing LLC, Orlando, FL, and conducted by American Leisure Marketing & Technology, Tamarac, FL.
