Wendy’s Rolls Out Healthy Kids’ Menu Choices

Wendy’s is launching new Kids’ Meal options nationwide as part of an ongoing commitment to providing nutritious choices on its menu.

New options include a national rollout of milk and fruit cups in Kids’ Meals instead of soft drinks and French fries, following a successful nine-month test at 420 Wendy’s restaurants. Wendy’s will be the first QSR to feature the National Dairy Council’s 3-A-Day of Dairy logo on its milk packaging.

Wendy’s is also stepping up marketing efforts behind a combo meal test, offering chili, a baked potato or side salad instead of French fries at no additional charge. “We’re continuing to look for new opportunities to help families find ways to balance their diets though varied, nutritious menu options,” said Wendy’s North America President Tom Mueller in a statement. “The milk and fruit cup are choices that kids like and parents have told us they appreciate.”

Starting next month, Wendy’s will add Baton Rouge, LA, as another test market for the combo-meal program. Wendy’s also continues to test the concept in New Orleans; Portland, OR; and Charleston, WV. Local TV and radio break in August.
