NASCAR fans are a loyal bunch who go out of their way to purchase products from auto racing sponsors. To cater to these car aficionados, Walmart has launched a new annual regional program in California.
It began with a wave of the green flag at the Toyota Save Mart 350, a NASCAR Sprint Cup series event held in June at Infineon Raceway at Sears Point in Sonoma, CA. Customers were invited to attend the Race Time events in Walmart parking lots to enjoy stockcar racing displays and test their own skills in racing simulator machines. The events extended to stores and online at www.Walmart.com/NASCAR, where fans found discounted merchandise during the racing season, including T-shirts, racing flags and tailgating food and beverages.
“We've found that nearly nine out of 10 NASCAR fans choose to shop at Walmart, and we wanted to provide Sonoma race fans with unique Race Time experiences,” says James Groh, Walmart local market manager.
