Volkswagen of America, Inc. said it plans a pervasive brand presence at the Sundance Film Festival, which runs today through Jan. 30 in Park City, UT. Volkswagen is the official automobile of the festival celebrating independent films.
Featuring the all-new 2005 Jetta and showcasing a wide range of vehicles, Volkswagen will provide all official transportation for Festival filmmakers, jury, talent and VIPs. A number of celebrities, including Steve Buscemi and David Schwimmer, will also be driving their own Volkswagens around Park City.
Festival founder Robert Redford will kick off the celebrity signing of the commemorative 2005 Sundance Jetta. The Jetta, on display throughout the Festival at Main Street and Heber is slated to be signed by 2005 Festival filmmakers and talent. The signed hood will then be auctioned at the end of the festival. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Sundance Institute.
Volkswagen will also host the 2005 Sundance Volkswagen Main Street Lounge, a contemporary two-story lounge and event space designed by Todd Oldham. The lounge will feature furniture from the Todd Oldham by La-Z-Boy collection, and custom carpets from InterfaceFLOR.
Volkswagen will also sponsor two VIP parties at the lounge.
The new Jetta Launch Party will be held tomorrow, featuring a sneak peek at VW’s short film The Check Up starring Joe Pantoliano and Kevin Connolly, as well as a live performance by a special musical guest to be announced.
The Volkswagen Owner Appreciation Evening will be held Tuesday. Following a reception, VW will host a special screening of Volkswagen’s short film followed by a screening of Strangers With Candy starring Amy Sedaris, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Allison Janney, Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with director and star Paul Dinello and cast members.
Also on Tuesday, VW will sponsor a Queer Lounge event featuring Scissor Sisters at Club Suede.
