VISITSCOTLAND KICKS UP HEELS IN NEW YORK

The cobwebs may just be starting to clear from the blitz of St. Paddy’s Day promotions but now it’s the Scot’s turn.

A weeklong series of promotions sponsored by VisitScotland kicks off March 30, culminating in the Dewar’s Tunes of Glory Parade in New York City on April 5 to celebrate Tartan Day (which recognizes the anniversary of Scottish independence). Other events include Scottish film festivals, dancing seminars, and fashion shows. Consumers can log onto www.tartandayny.com (http://www.mailcubed.com/click.asp?x=6079.141f.822153 ) to register for a chance to win a trip to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Print and subway advertising in the New York City area support, while kilt-clad actors will be handing out Scottish post cards. Tartan (plaid) deli and street vendor coffee cups and umbrellas will also be distributed, via New York City-based PromoMedia Concepts. Similar events will take place next week in Chicago and Washington DC. Green Team, New York City, handles.
