Visit London is bringing a little bit of London to Manhattan this week through the creation of ice sculptures in the form of iconic London landmarks.
The tourism agency will also offer hot tea to passers-by around New York and a chance to win a romantic city break to London this coming Valentine’s Day.
Street teams at South Penn Station from Jan. 28 – 30 will be telling commuters about the trip sweepstakes. Recipients will get free London city guides that contain suggestions for how to “Do London like a Local” as well as tips for making your dollars go further in the city.
The sweepstakes, which closes Feb. 4 and may be entered at www.visitlondon.com/romance, will include two round-trip economy plane tickets from New York to London, three nights at the four-star luxury Andaz hotel, a champagne flight on the London Eye world’s tallest observation wheel, VIP tickets to the Tutankhamen and the Age of the Pharaoh exhibition at the O2 and a London Pass, which provides free entry to 55 of London’s top attractions. The trip will be finished off with a romantic dinner cruise along the River Thames with Bateaux Cruises.
“London is a great place for couples to escape for an extended weekend break as there is so much to do,” said Martine Ainsworth-Wells, marketing director of Visit London in a statement.
The eight-foot ice sculptures of Nelson’s Column and Tower Bridge will be on display Jan. 31 at Two South Penn Plaza in the South Courtyard. The street team campaign was organized by Zoom Media and Marketing.
