Viking Office Products Launches New Internet E-Commerce Site in Germany Viking Office Products, the wholly owned subsidiary of Office Depot, Inc., Delray Beach, FL, has launched a German e-commerce site (http://www.viking.de). The site, a sister to the company’s United Kingdom presence, is the company’s second in Europe. The UK site (http://www.vikingdirect.co.uk) was launched in March 1999.
Viking Office Products has had catalog operations in Germany since November 1995. The new Internet site will take advantage of the company’s existing infrastructure including merchandising, warehousing and distribution systems.
The company also announced a major upgrade to its UK Internet site. Based on customer suggestions, the site has been streamlined and redesigned for easier ordering. The Home and Browse page, the Catalog Login, and the Order Checkout have all been revamped for greater accessibility and faster functionality. There is also Anonymous Shopping, allowing anyone access to the product pages without having to register. The pages are easier to read and easier to follow while shopping for office supplies.
