VeriSign Picks Two New Top Execs

VeriSign Inc., a digital infrastructure provider, elected William A. Roper Jr. president and CEO and Edward A. Mueller chairman of its board. Roper replaces Stratton D. Sclavos, the former CEO and board member, who had been with the company for 12 years.

Roper has served as a director at VeriSign since November 2003, but was employed as executive vice president of Science Applications International Corp (SAIC). Before that, Roper was SAIC’s CFO.

Mueller has been on VeriSign’s board since March 2005. He is the former CEO of Williams-Sonoma.

Sclavos is leaving after a group of independent board members concluded a review of the company’s previous stock options granting practices, according to a company statement. The group did not find any wrongdoing by any current member of senior management, including Sclavo
