Home shopping network ValueVision International Inc., Minneapolis, has signed an agreement with Wink Communications Inc., an interactive TV company, to offer instant ordering and purchasing capabilities with the TV remote control.
Terms of the agreement and operational timing were not disclosed.
Using Alameda, CA-based Wink’s interactive broadcasting technology, viewers will be able to interact with programs on ValueVision’s network by clicking their remote control during an enhanced program. For example, viewers will be able to conduct e-commerce transactions in real time.
The technology enables the network to enhance programming with interactive overlays that appear as supplemental text and graphics on the TV screen relating to the TV broadcast.
