USPS Makes Three High-Level Appointments

The U.S. Postal Service has made major appointments in operations, labor relations and consumer affairs.

Jack Potter, senior vice president of labor relations since 1998 and a 21-year postal veteran, will become senior vice president of operations. In his new assignment, Potter will have responsibility for field operations support, operations planning, network operations management and labor relations.

Anthony (Tony) Vegliante, district manager for the Baltimore Performance Cluster, and also a 21-year veteran of the Postal Service, will become vice president of labor relations. Prior to his assignment as the district manager in Baltimore in 1997 he held several executive positions in labor relations, including manager of contract administration, manager of grievance and arbitration and general manager of programs and policies.

Francia G. Smith, manager of marketing infrastructure, will become vice president and consumer advocate. Smith has almost 24 years of postal experience. Her former titles include manager of business account services; general manager of technical and field markting support and general manager of employment and placement.
