The U.S. Postal Service has signed a new $1 billion mail delivery contract with FedEx Express.
The new seven-year agreement calls for FedEx to fly about 4 million pounds of U.S. mail every business day.
In 2001 the USPS and FedEx signed a seven-year contract for airport-to-airport delivery of priority mail, express mail and first-class mail within the U.S. This contract replaces the final two years of that contract and extends it to 2013.
