Universal Studios is running a sweepstakes as a run-up to the final go-round for its “Back To The Future’ theme ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The grand-prize winner snags a stainless steel DeLorean and a free trip to Universal Studios Hollywood for a final run on the “Back To The Future” ride. Universal will shut down the ride in September to make way for a new ride based on “The Simpsons” next spring.
“Back To The Future” fans can enter the competition by submitting an original 90-second video about their interest in the ride and the movie trilogy that spawned it. Universal developed the contest with LiveMansion.com, and guidelines for the video submissions are available on the site. The online tributes will be posted through Sept. 3.
Visitors to Universal Studios Hollywood can also register for the sweepstakes, which also offers secondary prizes including 12 pairs of tickets to the Universal theme park for that final “Back To The Future” ride and DVDs of the movie.
The ride, which has had a 14-year run at the theme park, conveys riders in eight-seat convertible DeLorean Time Travel Vehicles to simulate the vehicle depicted in the popular movie series.
