UNI-MAIL LIST Corp., New York, has consolidated the West Coast operations of its sister company, MGT Associates Inc., into its New York office.
Uni-Mail says the move allows it to “more effectively represent our managed lists to mailers and brokers anywhere in the United States.” The group will be operated as MGT/Uni-Mail List Management.
“It’s a combination of building the business and being able to service the existing clients,” notes Uni-Mail president Michael Bryant. “We’ve got a whole lot of support systems and services here in New York,” he added. The technological infrastructure, as well as credit, collections and billing, are in New York.
Five of the six employees at MGT-account executives and account managers-lost their jobs as a result of the consolidation.
“It wasn’t a pleasant thing to do, but we felt that for the structure of the company, we just had to make the move,” Bryant says.
The East Coast sales operation has been “beefed up,” he says, with the addition of Cheryl Crawford, vice president of sales development; Joan Harris, director of list sales operations; Patricia Galvin, assistant director of list sales operations; and Melinda Garcia, list manager.
Marjorie Webb, president of MGT, will remain in Los Angeles, handling acquisitions of new lists on the West Coast. Webb owns MGT along with Uni-Mail.
MGT’s lists include American Family Publishers, Heritage House, the Gooseberry Patch catalog, Canadian Family Publishers, Shoppers Online and several outdoor catalog lists.
The transfer of MGT to New York was completed Feb. 26.
