Tyson Foods Tops Foodservice Ranking

Foodservice operators ranked Tyson Foods the No. 1 supplier, followed by Coca-Cola and General Mills.

Suppliers named McDonald’s Corp. the top operator, followed by Wendy’s and Subway.

The rankings are compiled by Cannondale Associates, Wilton, CT, in its second annual FoodservicElite study. Foodservice operators rated manufacturers on several criteria, including innovative marketing, category management, sales force and new products. Tyson led all those categories; Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola ranked second and third, respectively, for innovative marketing.

At the same time, suppliers rated operators on criteria including strength of brand names and clarity of company strategy. McDonald’s topped the list for strongest brand name (followed by Starbucks and Wendy’s) and was rated most likely to be a “power operator” 15 years from now (followed by Wendy’s and Darden).

The report is based on a survey of 470 manufacturers and operators.
