Advertising and public relations firm True North Communications Inc., Chicago, has acquired the U.K.’s Opus Group and Brazil’s Datamidia for an undisclosed sum. The company said the move is an effort to strengthen its Internet marketing outside the United States.
The companies, both closely held, will be part of True North’s FCB Worldwide interactive unit.
Opus, based in Basingstoke, 40 miles from London, offers direct marketing over the Internet, market research and media relations services for technology companies in Europe. It has more than 50 employees, according to a news report.
Datamidia, with 75 employees, is based in Sao Paulo and has offices in Rio de Janeiro and three other Brazilian cities. It plans to expand its marketing and communications programs to other cities in Brazil and Latin America, the report said.
