Toyota Teams Up with NBA, WNBA on Service Projects

Toyota is extending its multi-year marketing alliance with the National Basketball Association and the Women’s National Basketball Association in a season-long series of community projects.

Toyota Project Rebound is a national program of 15 community rebuilding projects, which include court refurbishments and other initiatives. The effort started yesterday with a court upgrade and basketball clinic at the Boys & Girls Club of Lodi, NJ. New Jersey Nets Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins pitched in to help repair the court damaged during April floods.

As part of the new initiative, Toyota will be designated as the official vehicle for NBA Cares and WNBA Cares, the community outreach arms of those leagues, and the official vehicle of both league’s All-Star contest. Toyota has been a marketing partner of the NBA and WNBA since 2005.

“Toyota Project Rebound is a program that will positively affect communities for years to come,” said Keith Dahl, national engagement marketing manager for Toyota, in a statement.

In addition to the Nets project, Toyota Project Rebound has similar efforts lined up with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Washington Wizards, the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Orleans Hornets, the Phoenix Suns, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trailblazers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the NBA Development League’s Sioux Falls Sky Force.

Toyota and the WNBA will also co-host several Toyota Project Rebound events during the 2008 WNBA season.
