Warner Bros. Online, Burbank, CA, and New York City-based FortuneCity.com have joined forces to launch ACMEcity, a Web community portal that will allow users to create Web pages featuring their favorite Warner Bros. movie, cartoon, TV show, or recording artists. Warner Bros. Online will provide an extensive amount of established and new media promotions for the site, the companies say.
ACMEcity contains home pages, chat, message boards, and e-mail, but will also allow participants around the world to build and maintain their own officially sanctioned home pages using content and information from Warner Bros. properties. Technology is provided by FortuneCity.
The goal of the partnership, through which Warner Bros. takes an equity stake in FortuneCity.com, is to develop key properties and brands through a centralized Web community.
Each area within ACMEcity will have “area producers” responsible for reviewing all new content for community-zoning compliance. “These efforts will result in a unique family-friendly and advertiser-safe community,” a joint statement says.
Additional community sites developed around key Warner Bros. Online properties will be engineered, managed, and maintained, utilizing FortuneCity’s proprietary communal search engine technologies.
“We salute the fans who support our brands by encouraging them to build their own dedicated home pages,” says Warner Bros. Online president Jim Moloshok.
“The result will be the largest entertainment-oriented community on the Internet.”
