TiVo to Offer Searchable Interactive TV Advertising Services

TiVo Inc. plans to introduce a television advertising search engine for targeting its service subscribers starting in spring 2006.

Interactive ads will be delivered to subscribers who can conduct a search by product categories or keywords.

“TiVo intends to capture the best of the Internet advertising model and create a unique a unique advertising product for the television medium that will provide measurable results,” said Davina Kent, vice president of national advertising sales, in a statement.

Individual TiVo customers will be able use set-top boxes to contribute personal profile information in order to receive advertising based on their specific interests.

TiVo has been working with agencies such as Interpublic Media, OMD, Starcom Mediavest and the Richards Group to develop this interactive TV advertising service.
