The Timberland Co. is set to embark on its second year as the Official Footwear and Outerwear Sponsor this month at the Sundance Film Festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah, from Jan. 21 – 31.
Under the deal, Timberland will provide winter boots and exclusive, co-branded Timberland/Sundance Film Festival jackets for more than 300 Festival filmmakers and programming team members, as well as gloves for over 2,000 Festival volunteers offering the brand widespread exposure during the events.
The brand is also sponsoring walking maps and transit signage throughout Park City, promoting eco-conscious modes of transportation.
“The Sundance Film Festival presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our products—which are perfect for Utah’s wintry landscape—while also sharing in the festival’s commitment to supporting forward-thinking artists and preserving the environment,” Theresa Palermo, senior director of North American Marketing for Timberland, said in a release.
New this year will be the “Timberland Retreat” lounge where people can stop by to get a sneak peek at the brand’s fall 2010 premium footwear and outerwear lines, including the popular Earthkeepers line of men’s and women’s boots. Daily giveaways will include multiple head-to-toe wardrobes and gift certificates, and accessories such as organic cotton tote bags, backpacks, stainless-steel tumblers and more.
As part of the sponsorship, Timberland, during the holidays, held an in-store sweeps that gave the winner a trip to the Film Festival, tickets to film screenings and some Earthkeepers gear.
A dedicated Web site will provide videos, photos and posts from the festival.
