Today, Target announced it will hire 100,000 seasonal in its 2,000-plus stores and 50-plus supply chain facilities as the retail chain gears up for the 2024 holiday season.
This seasonal hiring is in addition to the 400,000 employees Target typically employs throughout the year. Seasonal employment at Target often leads to a permanent role; Target offered more than half of its 2023 seasonal employees a position.
The retailer also offers its current employees the option to work extra hours throughout the holiday season via its On Demand team. This team of 45,000 employees pick up shifts as desired.
The mass merchant also announced that it will have its largest holiday assortment ever, with thousands of products and 50% more new items compared with the 2023 holiday season. Plus, more than half of Target’s holiday assortment is exclusive to the retailer this season, such as beauty products from brands Papatui and Being Frenshe, as well as products from the to-be-released movie “Wicked.”
Target plans to announce deals on these products and other everyday essentials items with its Target Circle Week Oct. 6-12. The sale is for members of Target’s Circle loyalty program, which has both free and paid tiers.
“From only-at-Target exclusives to the return of Target Circle Week and great deals every day, our plans are unmistakably Target and will add extra sparkle and delight to the holidays,” said Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer in a press release announcement.
Target will also have one-day-only deal days starting Nov. 1 through the holiday season. In addition to exclusive merchandise, the mass merchant also is emphasizing its low prices. More than half of Target’s holiday toys are under $20 and thousands of stocking stuffers are under $5.
Target had a similar campaign during the 2023 season, in which it announced in September a sale in early October for its loyalty program members.
