Talbots Expects to Report 33% Sales Increase

The Talbots, Inc. expects to report total sales of $568.6 million for the third quarter, a 33% increase over $426.3 million in the prior-year period.

The Hingham, MA firm expects to report consolidated direct marketing sales for the quarter ended Oct. 28 of $108.6 million.

Talbots noted that direct marketing sales under its own brand rose nearly 10% in the quarter, while the J. Jill direct business “continued to be difficult.”

Talbots will release full third quarter results on Nov. 15.
