Taco Bell is making itself a player in the Bowl Championship Series with a sweepstakes offering tickets to the championship match-up and three other bowl games.

The winner of the Taco Bell contest will get four VIP seats at the Allstate BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7. They will also receive tickets to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, the FedEx Orange Bowl on Jan. 3 and either the Rose Bowl presented by Citi or the Allstate Sugar Bowl (both played on Jan. 1).

The winner will also make a cameo appearance during the Fox pre-game show prior to the national championship contest.

Fans can register at http://www.tacobell.com through Dec. 21.

Taco Bell kicked off publicity for the promotion this week with a mini-media blitz featuring its spokesman, 2006 Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, on ESPN and other electronic media outlets.

A 10-second spot ran during the BCS selection show last weekend, and an ad appears in this week’s Sports Illustrated. Banner ads appear on ESPN.com . The contest is also being promoted on the Taco Bell site.

Taco Bell is the official BCS quick service restaurant. It is a local sponsor of the respective games, and will offer product sampling during tailgate parties prior to each game.
